Shades of Blue

Thursday, September 30, 2010 | | 3 comments
OKay, so there is this blog called Better After, have you heard of it?  I love checking out what others have done to their projects.  In fact a few of my projects have popped up on that blog also.  But today when I was doing a catch up of all the before and after projects, I was so drawn to all the blue ones!  Remember how much I LOVE turquoise?  Well, all shades of blue draw me in (notice the theme in my projects?!).

Anyways, here are a few of the eye candy I have seen from this site that I wanted to share.  If you click on the link, it will take you to their before and after picture.

This dressing table is oozing with style!

If I ever get bored of my little silver tea set (or should I say daughter's tea set) I know exactly what I am going to do with it!

What a fun retro looking chair.  From a basic dull look, to SHAZ-AM!

A mirror was replaced, and made into this beauty with blue.

Can you believe this housed an old tv?!  GORGEOUS!

Wow!  Talk about adding a touch of colour!  Way to be brave.

This room is so calming, I want one.  This room was a dreary room, turned blue, and later pink.  I think I prefer the blue, but both makeovers are so chic.

This blue is the PERFECT blue.  It's so soft looking, and what a cute piece of furniture!

Wow, wall texturing!  It looks fantastic!  It also looks like a lot of work.

Adding pattern and design give this piece a second look.

Again, a brave soul having such a brightly coloured piece.  Wouldn't this look great outdoors!

What a cute LITTLE chair!  I would like to have a sit.

I love Better After, and I find so many great transformations on it.  The blue ones always POP for me.  If you haven't heard of Better After, go check it out and tell me what you think!

All Things Beautiful

Wednesday, July 14, 2010 | | 4 comments
I am dedicating this post to my love for all things beautiful.  The way a colour will draw me in with inspirations bursting, the way a photograph of a room makes me wish I were there, the way scenery with thickness of greenery grabs my heart.  I can't get enough of beautiful photography, art, places, colours, I want to be surrounded.  Here is what I have found that are peaking my senses, and bringing me to another world, because right now where I am, it is raining, raining, with more rain.  I need to escape!  So here it is:

So you can conclude from this post that I am either hungry (well, yes I am), or that I would rather be in any of these outdoor escapes than this dingy weather where I am now.  And well... I guess it's both.

Did you notice the credits!  I found this beautiful blog with the most amazing, inspiring photography.   Thanks to JL Designs for lifting my spirits!

Hutch Project Part 1

Monday, March 15, 2010 | | 4 comments
So I was browsing blogs and came across this:

A coffee table cut in HALF!
Who would do this?... Melissa from 320 Sycamore

This became this:
(A bench!!)

What a woman!!!  Anyways, this gave me so much inspiration I was scouring my house for something to makeover.  And I found it!  A hutch that came off a dresser that I bought off Kijiji.  The hutch is really what I liked about the whole dresser, but they were an ugly streaky painted brown.  I WAS going to paint them white and put it in my girls room.  But it stayed ugly brown and finally got moved to the basement.  But after this post from Melissa @ Sycamore 320 I had to do something about it before it went off to the freecycle.

So here is the before:

And this is after I cut it in half.  (Actually, my husband cut it, I watched)  Then I primed them:

Can you see where I am going with this?

And look, I even used a jigsaw for the very first time and made these great shaped cuts.

Here is half of the project:

A cute bench for my kids outdoor playhouse.

Don't you love the colour!!!  So summery!

I couldn't find the right colour at Walmart, but Home Depot had just the perfect blue.  It's called AQUA.  I can't wait to put it in their playhouse, then I can take another pic.

As for the second project, it's in progress and will have to wait a little while.

But it will be posted as soon as it's done, I hope it's a beauty!
